The team name of Higgins Village - was chosen because at one time the multiage group was in two different wings. When they combined teams they brainstormed the history of Scarborough deciding as a group to call themselves Higgins Village. They saw Higgins Beach as a community and added "village" since their philosophy is that "it takes a village to raise a child".
