Blue Point Library Home Page
Each K-2 school has a fully automated library staffed by a full
time library ed. tech. They are also served by a professional librarian
who oversees all of the K-8 schools in Scarborough. Each library
has an extensive collection of books for use by our students and
staff.
The children come to the library once a week for lessons and stories.
Some of the lessons taught throughout the year are library behavior,
book care, parts of a book, fiction and non-fiction books, beginning
research skills, and the Caldecott and Newbury book awards. Stories
are read relating to each week’s lesson. The children sign out
books and magazines for a week at a time. One of our biggest goals
is for our children to become familiar with the library and for them
to feel comfortable being there.
Children look forward to our Scholastic Book Fair held each spring.
We truly appreciate the dedicated volunteers who help keep our
libraries running by assisting with many of the jobs that need to
be done to keep our libraries functioning.
