Cross Country |
|
Cross Country is a 7th-8th grade sport that is played in the fall.
You will run with peers and enjoy the coaching of our gym teacher. Your
practices are after school and will be a lot of help for the meets. |
Boys' Soccer |
|
The boys’ 7th & 8th grade soccer team have tryouts during
the fall. The first week, the players are separated into three teams.
Generally, there are two games per week, and practice is scheduled every
non game week day. 7th, 8th and developmental teams will be offered. |
Girls' Soccer |
|
If you want to become part of a great team during the fall, 7th, 8th
and soccer may be the sport for you. There are practices every day after
school. The team works on basic skills like dribbling, passing, defending
and stopping. This sport is a confidence booster and a great way to make
friends. 7th, 8th and developmental teams will be offered. |
Field Hockey |

Seventh and eighth grade field hockey is played in the fall during
September and October. There is practice every day after school. If you enjoy having fun and playing field
hockey, then this sport is great for you. |
Basketball |
|
Basketball is a great sport to join in the winter. There are practices
every day after school. The team works on passing, shooting, dribbling
and defense. Basketball is for both 7th and 8th graders, boys and girls.
This sport builds confidence and will help you make new friends. “The
road to success is always under construction.” |
Swimming |
|
Swimming is a very short season for 7th & 8th graders who are willing
to make a commitment. The season starts in February and ends in March.
Practices are held at the YMCA in Portland after school, 5 days a week
from 2:45 – 4:30 p.m. |
Baseball |
|
Seventh and eighth grade baseball is played in the spring. You have
to try out to make the team. A former player of the team reports: “Baseball
is really swell.” |
Softball |
|
If you play softball, or just want to get better at it, you can try
out for the Scarborough 7th or 8th grade team. Softball is an excellent
sport, and you can make many new friends. If you do well at tryouts and
make the team, you are in for a very fun season. The team has a practice
every day after school. |
Girls' Lacrosse |
|
Girls’ lacrosse is a spring sport. There is a 7th and an 8th
grade team. The games and practices are after school. Playing lacrosse
helps you to be active and learn to be part of a team. |
Boys' Lacrosse |
|
Lacrosse is played in the spring from March to early June. There is
a 7th grade team and an 8th grade team. There are no tryouts. The lacrosse
team has a practice every day after school. |
Indoor Track |
|
Indoor track is a great sport for boys and girls in grades 7-8.
There aren't any tryouts but a student must be dedicated to participate
in this sport. Practice takes place after school every day. The different
events in track are: jumping, throwing, and running long and short distances.
We compete with other schools that are in Class A. At the end of
the season there is an individual competition. In past years we have always
placed in the top five. This is a great sport if you want to stay
in shape. |
Outdoor Track |
|
Outdoor track takes place during the spring for 7th & 8th grade
boys and girls. There are many different events that anyone can compete
in, and no one needs to try out. The different events in outdoor track
are: jumping, throwing, and running long and short distances. |
Intramurals |
|
Intramurals takes place 2 days a week during homeroom for all grade levels. During the fall outside sports
are offered such as, flag football, and soccer. During the winter season
students play basketball and volleyball and in the spring indoor baseball. |
Wrestling |
|
The wrestling team is offered to 7th and 8th grade boys and girls.
The practices will be each day after school at the high school. If you
have never tried wrestling, be prepared to have fun and work hard! |
