After viewing a Power Point Presentation of
Art from the entire continent of Africa, students chose a
region for inspiration in creating their own painting.
A variety of resources were used for researching cultural
and geographical differences. Choices were made by students
whether to use a portrait or a landscape. Personal choice in
style gave students the opportunity to paint either
realistically or abstractly.
Since color is an important element in painting,
experimentation in mixing was encouraged.
Another important element texture was used whenever
possible. To enhance their paintings, students demonstrated
great skill in using pattern which is evident in most of the
clothing and pottery. To ensure a good use of space in the
landscape paintings, a foreground, middle ground and
background was developed. |
