Egyptian Sculptures

Art Gallery Home

After viewing a PowerPoint presentation, students selected an animal deity from the Egyptian culture. Using the metal process, repouseé, students embossed their animal designs with special tools. The relief process was achieved by working on both sides of the metal foil until the sculptural textures developed into the desired height. Permanent markers added color and contrast to their golden Egyptian designs.

The bases for their sculptures were created in clay. Students chose a pyramid, dome, or rectangle style that resembled ancient Egyptian pedestals. Line, shape, color, form, and texture were the elements of art that were emphasized. The principles of art, pattern, balance, and emphasis were also important for this mix-media project.
