Benjamin F. Wentworth School is located at 9 Wentworth Drive, Scarborough, Maine. Wentworth greets a student population averaging over 730 students annually along with 130 staff members. Intermediate students and staff are assigned to "neighborhoods within wings" for the three year phase to create a small school sense of community. Grade 3-5 Intermediate students, typically ages 8, 9, and 10, will encounter an expanded set of social, emotional and academic connections compared to their primary years. Each child will move toward independence of thought while acquiring a more defined set of academic skills. Intermediate students gain perspective on the achievement of good citizenship, growing as learners and practicing decision-making within a diverse set of experiences. With that in mind, we encourage you to explore our website through the energetic, creative lens of the Intermediate student experience. Anne-Mayre Dexter, Principal Ellen Beale, Assistant Principal To encourage the concepts of inclusion for all, courage to try new things, creativity in problem-solving and thinking and determination to do one’s best, Wentworth has adopted the Wolf as its mascot. The Wentworth Wolf reminds us to care for others through the words of our school song All for One and One for All while we accept responsibility for our choices as illustrated in the song From the Inside Out. Intermediate phase students are introduced and reminded to apply Respectful Guidelines in all they say and do during their three year stay at Wentworth Intermediate School. Please take a look at our Summer Focus
The mission of Wentworth Intermediate School "is to achieve a partnership among citizens, students, teachers and parents that creates a challenging community of learners. Our partnership shares the belief that school should be a safe and comfortable place where we all are challenged to take academic risks and develop personal and global aspirations." |
